Author Visits

Would you like me to share All the Places We Call Home or excerpts of Autumn Song and All the Colors We Will See with your classroom?

“Thank you so much for coming to our school. Your visit was such a wonderful treat for our students and all the adults that met you as well. You really had our scholars thoroughly engaged and excited about poetry and inspired many to share their stories of home, adults included. I couldn't have imagined a better experience for our school.”

Leigh Shanks, MLIS | Media Coordinator at Statesville Road Elementary School

“Patrice's warm presence immediately captivated the lower school students as she enchanted them with a reading of her book, All the Places We Call Home. Throughout the day, she engaged our middle and upper school students in dynamic writing workshops, drawing from excerpts of her essay collections, Autumn Song and All the Colors We Will See. Additionally, Patrice served as our esteemed Black History Speaker, delivering a powerful message titled "A Theory of Known Elements" to grades 5 through 12. Her ability to connect with students of all ages left a lasting impression on our school community.”

Candyce Owens | Dean of Students at Gaston Day School

“Students learned that writing is a full sensory experience. Patrice extended the activity by challenging students to engage the five senses to create their own story about what they call home. Our author's visit with Patrice Gopo was an engaging educational experience for all!”

Dana Hopper | Library Media Coordinator, Burlington, NC
